What the river knows…

Took a long soulful hike into new territory today. Through quiet woodland past rambling fieldstone walls down into the gut – a tumbling river. The rushing water slips into shallow falls, pools and eddies. Two Australian Shepherds sip and dip and run along the water’s edge. Aged and young Beech trees, still holding their delicately serrated tea leaves, dapple light and flutter gently in the breeze. Across the river’s stream, lush winter-green moss and gray rock rise to meet the treetops and sky.

today I learn to explore
those faults
I hold so close
to my heart*
